Thank you for visiting our site. We appreciate your interest in learning from and financially supporting this nonprofit community service.
Donations and sponsorships fund this website. This website would not be possible without the initial grants from the Virgin Islands Humanities Council in 1989 and then from the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands in 2021. The initial grant funded fieldwork and photography to inventory the remains of ruined windmills. The Community Foundation grant funded the development of the website. We are very grateful for this support and hope that this website will grow to be an important resource for the community.
Your donations help to offset the costs of keeping the website live and provide for future growth. This website is not considered a finished product and will grow in the future. Websites require regular updates to keep current with changes in underlying software along with paying for server space and other software. Any donations beyond the basic expenses will offset future development costs. Future plans include adding information about estates where animal mills were built but a windmill was not built. We also plan to add photos from 1988-1991 to provide a perspective of how specific locations changed over a 30-year period. In future years, we hope to add a forum for people to share thoughts and memories about Virgin Islands history.
Donations of any amount will help fund our efforts. All donations are tax deductible in the United States, since our organization is a recognized by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) organization, and those interested can review our determination letter. Any donor seeking confirmation of this status can find the IRS determination letter here. Donors will receive acknowledgement of their donation for tax purposes. Donors will be recognized, if desired, on a page to be developed in the future in appreciation of their support.
A one-year sponsorship of a single page requires contribution of $100. Sponsorship provides the opportunity to select an individual page on which the sponsorship will be acknowledged and on the donor recognition page. We reserve the right to restrict sponsorships to one sponsor per page. On the sponsored page, the sponsor can provide an image, specify acknowledgement text, and provide an outbound link for inclusion on that page.
